Madura gold granite is a stone that needs no introduction. Its stunning peachy golden tones are guaranteed to warm any kitchen. It is quarried in Tamil Nadu, India and is also commonly called Golden Oak India granite, and New Colonial Dream granite.
From afar this granite has an overall creamy golden appearance, it looks warm and vibrant. The overall effect from this distance is reasonably uniform, however you may be able to see slight variations in the color where the darker mineral deposits are located.
As you get close you can see stunning beauty of this stone in all its glory! The bedrock of this stone is a stunning cream color, however not much of it is usually that visible as it is covered in several stunning minerals.
Large golden peach mineral deposits make up the bulk of this stones mass. They are found in both isolated patches and long winding veins. They can range in color from light cream, through to a soft peach color.
Several medium brown areas are also visible. These stunning mineral deposits are also found in patches and veins. They are generally consistent in their light rusty brown color. These minerals are much less common than the peachy ones and will generally make up between 10% and 20% of the stones surface area.
To complement the light bedrock and golden / peach tones – several darker mineral deposits are also present. They are almost red in their appearance and range in color from deep dark brown (almost black in places) through to a deep red or burgundy color.
There is said to be an incredibly high level of variation between different slabs of Madura gold and you can be sure that no two slabs will ever look the same. All aspects of the stone can vary but most will have a consistent peachy color. The main difference that will be present is the dark brown and peach mineral deposits. Some can have an abundance of these minerals creating a very busy and interesting stone, others can have much less creating a soft and subtle appearance. As always – make sure you personally inspect any slab before you purchase it.
Madura gold is a very resilient stone and will not stain or scratch easily providing it is treated with a reasonable amount of care. Its light color and detailed patterns will also hide dirt and fingerprints easily – meaning you will not have a huge amount of additional cleaning to do to keep it in tip top condition!
This stone can look very different in depending up on the rooms lighting conditions. On slabs with lots of darker tones the lack of natural light will drown out the lighter tones slightly meaning the overall effect will be much darker.
How Much Does Madura Gold Granite Cost?
For a 3cm thick slab of Madura gold granite you will pay around $55 to $65 per square foot. For a 2cm thick slab you will pay around $40 to $50 per square foot.
This awesome stone looks great when combined with light cream or white cabinets. The light natural tones of the stone will complement the lighter cabinets without creating too much of a contrast. They can add a great level of depth to a kitchen that is a little bland or minimal.
When combined with medium stained cabinets Madura gold granite countertops will blend in with the cabinets to create a uniform and flowing effect. Due to the huge range of browns that are present within this granite – you can be sure that your countertops will feel right at home!
With dark cabinets you would expect this granite to be quite a stark contrast due to its light overall appearance. On some slabs this is certainly the case. But due to the large amount of variation between different slabs it is certainly possible reduce the amount of contrast by picking slabs with a high content of the dark brown minerals. This will still allow a great bold contrast – but with complementary colors to soften the overall effect.
While this is an awesome stone – we think that you should also take a look at Solarius and Golden Beach Granite too.
